I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence based practice using "dual attention awareness" for treating trauma, anxiety, grief and loss as well as a range of other issues.
I am honored as a counselor to be a part of the healing journey for others. I am client- centered in my approach, believing that everyone has strengths we can continue to build on. My role is to help identify areas of stuck patterns and distress and explore alternative coping skills to help create wholeness and a meaningful life. I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma (sexual, physical, verbal, emotional abuse). Trauma can impact all areas of life. Being able to process these experiences in a safe place can help free up more space for living more fully in the present.

My work is grounded in Attachment Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology and EMDR --all of which recognize the importance of the integration of mind and body.
There comes a time in life when you need additional support...specifically, professional support from someone who not only has therapeutic experience but also has significant life experience. Over the years, I have helped many people discover real relief, peace, resilience, strength and healing that comes from facing and processing unimaginable pain due to the loss of a loved one, a relationship, trauma or episodes of anxiety. I help people address the "yuk" in their lives and transform their pain as they develop a new life narrative that is full of meaning, perspective and hope. Let me help you discover your better tomorrow!

Since we are more than just our thoughts and we store a lot of emotional experience in our body, I like to find balance with the two by using mind-body approaches in the therapy room such an EMDR .
My approach to therapy allows clients the emotional space to explore their past and present with curiosity and non-judgement (the world could use more of that, am I right?!) to find hope, insight, and wholeheartedness for their future. The people who come to see me are curious to find the root of their pain and begin their unique healing process. I specialize in supporting clients to heal trauma; meaning difficult experiences that have ignited pain and disconnection. With the word 'trauma' being so present in recent times, we can explore what this means for you in session!

Using EMDR & other modalities, such a CBT, IFS & DBT, I work with adults, teens, and families, struggling with conflict, relationship issues, anger, depression, anxiety, divorce, violence, gender identity, family reunification, abuse, and PTSD.
Dealing with trauma and past hurts, struggling with work, relationships, or addiction, managing depression & anxiety or to better understand one's gender identity or sexuality - it isn't easy to address any of these things. I see therapy as a safe, judgment-free, shame-free, and confidential space, where you are free to vent, confide, cry, discuss, imagine, find strength, and be empowered. Most importantly, therapy is a place for hope to come alive, to learn new coping skills, to achieve personal growth, and to discover you are strong, valuable, and greater than any struggle you might have. Change is possible!

We have an amazing team of folks ranging from clinical interns to senior therapists, but we all specialize in helping clients dive deep and share tools that allow clients to sustain measurable and meaningful change. I take a relational approach to therapy based off current research and techniques including EMDR , IFS, DBT, Mindfulness, and various behavioral techniques to help my client’s make meaningful changes.
Are you confused about why you are feeling the way you are feeling? Do you wish things were different? Are you feeling disconnected from others or yourself? Current neuroscience and research tells us that about 90 to 95 percent of the way we think, feel, and act is unconscious and automatic. In my practice, I help people understand why they are acting, feeling, and thinking they are so they can begin change their internal reality. I partner with my client’s to educate and empower them to understand themselves better so they can begin to live more intentionally and pursue their passions in meaningful ways.

My practice includes EMDR , Cognitive Behavioral Intense Therapy, and many other therapeutic methods for many aspects of healing.
Are you experiencing a circumstance that has led you to a crossroads? Oftentimes it may cause stress, anxiety, grief, loss, or even question your self-worth. First thing most of us do is reach out to a friend or family member, but that may not be enough. Taking a leap of faith and contacting a therapist may be the most hopeful thing you can do. No one should go it alone.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
