Most of my clients live in fear around how much food they eat or do not eat. Their
relationship
with food has evolved into one of pain and hiding versus pleasure and health. I use a Gestalt approach which gives voice to a person's conflicting two parts: the part wanting to hold onto the eating disorder and its benefits, and the part wanting to let go for permanent growth and healing. Clients ultimately can reach a place where they discover choice, freedom and inner peace.

Staying connected to your
partner
can be tough - even when there’s a lot of love in your
relationship
. In fact, being in love can make it that much more painful when you feel far away from or unheard by “your person.” I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to help
couples
who love one another deeply, yet feel like they are missing each other. My approach is nurturing, compassionate, intuitive, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I love helping parents of young children, pregnant and postpartum

We need healthy and meaningful relationships to feel a true sense of fulfillment in life. Therapy can be a transformative space for individuals,
couples
and families to reimagine the way they they relate to themselves and one another. Deep down, I believe we all want what is best for ourselves, our relationships and our families, but sometimes the pains from the past and uncertainty of life can block us from fulfillment and true connection. Life is difficult and can bring unimaginable pain. Relationships and parenting are complex. Everyone needs support.

Working from an emotion-focused lens, I help
couples
and families find their way back to each other after conflict and distance have settled in.
By now you may feel like you've tried everything. Perhaps your home has become a battleground, filled with fights that repeat over and over without any progress. Maybe you feel like you have hit a wall with your
partner
and aren’t sure how to move forward, or maybe you feel stuck, watching from the sidelines as your child navigates the many challenges of adolescence. Taking action can help resolve these feelings of helplessness and taking the initiative to seek treatment is the first step forward. If you or your child is struggling to live a fulfilling life—or even struggling to make it through the day—it’s time to seek help.

Please feel free to reach out to explore different ways we might be able to
partner
together in helping you become the person that you want to be and live a life that is satisfying to you.
Are you confused about why you are feeling the way you are feeling? Do you wish things were different? Are you feeling disconnected from others or yourself? Current neuroscience and research tells us that about 90 to 95 percent of the way we think, feel, and act is unconscious and automatic. In my practice, I help people understand why they are acting, feeling, and thinking they are so they can begin change their internal reality. I
partner
with my client’s to educate and empower them to understand themselves better so they can begin to live more intentionally and pursue their passions in meaningful ways.

I work with clients to help them understand and heal the parts of their personalities that are causing them pain and problems. Whether it is anxiety, depression, rage, overeating,
relationship
issues, or any other symptom, our parts are involved. Our parts, ultimately, have positive intentions and are, in their own way, trying to help us. When a part becomes entrenched and extreme, it can force us to act and think in ways that make us feel miserable. By having compassion for our parts and helping them heal, we enjoy more connection, serenity, success, and peace.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
