I believe much of therapy is a journey of coming home to one’s truest self, by both uncovering what has been and cultivating something new. My intention is to ultimately support clients in creating a more connected and deepened
relationship
with themselves and their lives. Together, we will sit in the space of exploration creating more awareness of the past and present, empowering you with choice for the journey ahead. I approach healing primarily through the following therapeutic models:

I'm honored to work with people in the midst of difficult times. I am skilled in building collaborative relationships with my clients to access their integrity, perseverance and authentic presence to address problems ranging from the everyday to the existential. I provide individualized care rather than “one size fits all” therapy. Let's work together to move towards greater feelings of aliveness.

Being a human is not easy! Whether you're feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, uncertain, struggling, unfulfilled, lost, or broken, I am here to support you on your unique journey. The therapy
relationship
is a place where you are accepted exactly as you are, so together we can find ways to nurture your inner sources of healing and growth. My goal is to support your ability to increase self-awareness and compassion in order to shift your habitual ways of thinking, feeling, behaving, and relating, so we can discover the tools and insights to help you live a life that feels meaningful to you. Inner and outer change are possible!

All change involves loss. All loss involves change. Even those changes we choose, can be challenging and maybe painful. Yet in nearly all situations, we have the power to choose how we respond. “Every choice we make takes us closer to or further from where we want to be.” Whether the choice has to do with some exciting possibility or tragedy and trauma from illness, death, assault or a failing
relationship
, it’s all about our choices. Helping people decide where they want to be, and evaluating whether their choices take them closer to or further from that destination, is what my practice is about.

Most of my clients live in fear around how much food they eat or do not eat. Their
relationship
with food has evolved into one of pain and hiding versus pleasure and health. I use a Gestalt approach which gives voice to a person's conflicting two parts: the part wanting to hold onto the eating disorder and its benefits, and the part wanting to let go for permanent growth and healing. Clients ultimately can reach a place where they discover choice, freedom and inner peace.

together in helping you become the person that you want to be and live a life that is satisfying to you.
Are you confused about why you are feeling the way you are feeling? Do you wish things were different? Are you feeling disconnected from others or yourself? Current neuroscience and research tells us that about 90 to 95 percent of the way we think, feel, and act is unconscious and automatic. In my practice, I help people understand why they are acting, feeling, and thinking they are so they can begin change their internal reality. I
partner
with my client’s to educate and empower them to understand themselves better so they can begin to live more intentionally and pursue their passions in meaningful ways.

Life can be difficult. At times our burdens take up what feels like too much space and energy in our day-to-day lives. Certain people might have an inordinate amount of sway over how you feel in a day (even when you don’t interact!). You might find yourself feeling negative, hypervigilant, or completely shut down. Perhaps you find yourself going back to certain memories you’d rather stop revisiting. These struggles are not due to a lack of personal strength or resilience on your part – they simply reveal that you are human, with human experiences and needs. And as a human, you have the right to ask for help when you need it.

I provide a safe and compassionate space for both individuals and
couples
, grounded in trusted and effective healing modalities, including somatic and emotionally focused therapies.
Relationships evoke our deepest longings and fears, and touch on wounds that may have been long hidden, wounds which we’ve often lived a lifetime without recognizing. The pain of disconnection we feel in relationships, the heated arguments and periods of distance or alienation, can leave us lost and confused, stuck in emotional knots, with our desire for closeness vying against our protective reactions. Cycles of conflict may escalate, and with them, the pain. All the while, deep down, we quietly long to share ourselves more honestly and fully with those whom we are closest to.

Working from an emotion-focused lens, I help
couples
and families find their way back to each other after conflict and distance have settled in.
By now you may feel like you've tried everything. Perhaps your home has become a battleground, filled with fights that repeat over and over without any progress. Maybe you feel like you have hit a wall with your
partner
and aren’t sure how to move forward, or maybe you feel stuck, watching from the sidelines as your child navigates the many challenges of adolescence. Taking action can help resolve these feelings of helplessness and taking the initiative to seek treatment is the first step forward. If you or your child is struggling to live a fulfilling life—or even struggling to make it through the day—it’s time to seek help.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
