Cliff Bostock's Groups
Gayging: Gay and growing older
Growing old is a difficult time for many gay men, but it is seldom discussed openly. This facilitated support group aims to change that. We'll be looking at the gifts of being gay and older as well as the problems. The group requires an 8-to-10-week commitment. A sliding-scale fee is available. (Weekend workshops also available.) The tone of the group will be supportive and playful. It's particularly good for men in "midlife crisis" or facing retirement, but open to all.
Greeting the Muse
This 10-week workshop is an intense encounter with the creative imagination. It was originally designed for people in the creative arts, but proved to be quite useful for anyone feeling blocked in their life. It involves multiple processes and weekly homework which is returned to clients with comments. If you're feeling lost in life -- in "midlife crisis," for example -- this workshop will help you find new paths. (I also offer a weekend workshop, Muse 101, in this vein.)
You are what you taste
I have written a dining column for over 30 years, so I have a special interest in the way taste and psychology interact at both the personal and cultural levels. This multi-week workshop will include several restaurant meals together as well as group "process" sessions. It will be co-facilitated by a specialist in the psychology of the body. The group's main focus will be on pleasure, but we'll also see how taste affects the full range of feelings, how dining performs as a healing ritual, etc.
