I am a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience in various settings, currently working exclusively with adults in individual therapy. My primary orientation is psychodynamic, which means that I help clients look at current symptoms and relationship problems as manifestations of patterns - often outside of our awareness - that we learn in childhood. Often this learning leads us to suppress important parts of ourselves and our experiences, which in turn leads to suffering. I believe that exploring these patterns and slowly acquainting ourselves with disowned feelings and conflicts is critical for lasting symptom change.
At the same time, I am aware that not every client wants to do this type of work. Sometimes, more concrete approaches can be helpful in symptom improvement. I work with each client to create a psychotherapeutic path that makes the most sense for them.
The most important factor in a successful psychotherapeutic relationship is the trust and respect felt between client and therapist. I work hard to create a supportive yet challenging environment in which my clients can grow.
