My counseling philosophy begins by receiving clients with unconditional positive regard and creating a compassionate environment where clients feel safe and supported as they seek to navigate the difficulties of life. Complicated life experiences can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, and potentially learned helplessness that negatively impact our self-worth and behaviors in a profound way. I believe that engaging in therapy can increase human capacity for a richer, more meaningful life by clarifying our values and determining what is truly purposeful and fulfilling for our life.
I believe the counseling process as highly beneficial for learning mindfulness skills to maintain our psychological flexibility in allowing our thoughts to guide us without overwhelming us. Staying alert to current circumstances allows us to be actively engaged with the present rather than ruminating about the past or projecting our concerns for the future.
Personal change can be challenging but by remaining committed to action for flexible attention of our thoughts and healthier behaviors we can achieve a more resilient approach to life. I feel honored and privileged to enter the therapeutic process with my clients and support them on their journey for positive life outcomes and healing.
