I work with men and women individually and male teenagers (ages 15 and over). My clinical experience includes men's issues, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, anger/self-control, family issues, career and work-related issues, interpersonal conflicts, and conflict resolution. Men face pressures, stigmas, and responsibilities that can be difficult to bear. I specialize in working with men who feel angry, conflicted, frustrated or generally unhappy. Clients are expected to be self-motivated, want counseling for themselves and be willing to engage in discussion.
Therapy for adults works to gain insight into struggles and strategies to improve your life. Teens - screens, respect for family, and chore/homework resistance are addressed in parenting consultation meetings. Parents learn strategies to alleviate these issues and create a healthy structure balancing privileges, responsibilities, and quality family time.
Entering therapy can be challenging, including facing social stigmas that portray counseling as a sign of "weakness" and/or not masculine. Many people who come to therapy to examine their lives are actually strong, insightful, courageous, and resilient. I strive to be a "real" person who is approachable with a sense of humor.
