My history working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker treating persons who experience difficult change, trauma, serious mental illnesses, or life altering events, has led me to employ a wide array of techniques to process pain, and move past discomfort.

My specialty is couple and family counseling, and of course, I also see individuals ages 7 and up. I have significant experience working with children and families who are involved with DCFS. I have helped families deal with issues such as substance abuse, divorce/re-marriage, and child abuse. I also enjoy working with parents who are re-thinking their parenting style and want to work towards a more satisfying relationship with their child(ren).

Feelings of anxiety and depression are signals. They are NOT your fault. They tell us about unresolved and repressed feelings originating from painful situations - past or present. They usually occur either in the work arena or in relationships or both. Unresolved events can block development and subsequently produce a sense of despair. I specialize in getting to the 'root' of issues; helping to resolve that which has not been adequately dealt with, thereby facilitating development to resume.

While I believe that most of us attempt to manage the best we can given our current circumstances, struggles and challenges can still seem insurmountable. My clients include school age children, adolescents, adults and couples. I am warm, skilled therapist with knowledge and experience with a broad range of issues. I have expertise in working with people who are anxious, depressed, or who have experienced trauma or loss. I facilitate groups called "Honoring Our Lost Mothers and Others: Connecting and Reconnecting" for people who have experienced a significant loss. The participants use art materials to honor and express their loss. No art experience is necessary.
