I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families. My areas of interest and experience include but are not limited to: psychodiagnostic and neurodevelopmental assessments for attention, learning problems, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, early childhood trauma, and parenting. In my graduate training, I have worked within outpatient, hospital, and community mental health settings, and received specialized training in early childhood and psychological testing.

My focus is on deepening my patients' understanding of their own behaviors, improving their communication and coping skills, increasing confidence and self-image, and moving toward a healthier and more satisfying level of functioning. I am fluent in both English and Farsi.

I am the founder & clinical director of ADAPT Therapy Centers, Inc. (c.1987). My specialties include a treatment of mood disorders (depression, anxiety/panic, bi-polar disorder) & addiciton. Throughout my 30 year career, I have run hundreds of psychodrama, multi-family, & cognitive therapy groups at various hospitals in Southern California. I have been a professor in the Psychology Dept. at Mount Saint Mary's College & a member of the Board of Directors for the National Council of Alcoholism & Drug Addiction, Los Angeles Chapter. I have also served as Clinical Director at The Pasadena Recovery Center & co-hosted my own radio show, "Shrink Wrap" on KCSN.

I received my doctorate in clinical health psychology from Loma Linda University and completed my residency at the Veteran Affairs Northern California Health Care System. I have worked in various settings including private hospitals and clinics, VA clinics, and Kaiser Permanente in primary care. We specialize in providing diagnostic evaluations to identify learning disabilities, attention and memory problems in children and adults. Psychological testing is used for the assessment of ADHD, memory and cognitive decline, personality, mood/bipolar, learning disorders, Autism, visual processing weaknesses, and developmental delay (ages newborn to 3 years). Although I work with children and adolescents individually, working with them alone is not sufficient. As a rule, I strive to incorporate parents in the process as much as possible. I also strongly believe in involving teachers, pediatricians, and other professionals in order to provide comprehensive treatment. As a parent myself, I am very aware of what it is like for me to entrust my childrens' care into the hands of another. For me, working with children is thus a very privileged thing.
