Outwardly you seem to have it together, while anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or plain old self-loathing drain your battery more than anyone could guess. Or maybe it’s depression you keep hidden with excuses and isolation. Or a loss of identity that happened when something major shifted and you no longer fit where you used to fit. You’d appreciate humor in your sessions, and prefer warmth instead a blank slate of clinical detachment, but you especially don’t want to feel rushed, pressured, or “evaluated”. Maybe your story feels impossibly complex, maybe inconsistent, maybe you feel two opposite ways at the same time. I get it.
I don’t practice from a single approach or theory, though I trend toward a relational, psychodynamic approach, with cognitive behavioral insights that focus on roots, not just symptoms. If you are looking for worksheets and rigid treatment plans, I may disappoint. I mistrust simplistic answers to complex realities - if it was simple you wouldn't be here!
