Offering Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) to treat PTSD in Seattle and Bellevue, Washington. SGB is successful in approximately 80% of patients who see a mean reduction in the PCL-5 (PTSD) score of 31 points after a 30 minute procedure. The stellate ganglion is a control center for the sympathetic nervous system and a conduit for PTSD triggers. SGB is a low risk injection which stops the sympathetic nervous system overdrive in PTSD patients, so triggers can be reduced or even eliminated. Patients are then better able to engage in the psychological work related to trauma events and PTSD.
The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Psychiatry recently published first multi-site, randomized control trial of the use of SGB to treat PTSD. It showed SGB significantly reduced symptoms related to PTSD. "60 Minutes" also featured SGB for PTSD. A survey of mental health clinicians showed 95% recommend SGB. More at: http://bit.ly/36xvTGL
Only Pain Medicine MD and DO subspecialists are trained in SGB. Dr. Attaman is fellowship trained and board certified in Pain Medicine. Naturopaths (ND) and Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) cannot become board certified in Pain Medicine.
