The alliance we build as client and therapist is a necessary and very important part of the therapeutic process. As a past athlete I know how it feels to always be striving for perfection. This desperation for being perfect can push you into doing unhealthy practices to be the best. This drive can even push you into using drugs and alcohol to numb this intensity out after a stressful game or competition. Or even worse when you disappoint yourself with your results you can even feel like there's nothing which can take away the extreme regret and pain aside from drinking and drugging. Sports Psych-Mental conditioning takes the negative feelings away and helps you get a handle on drinking and drugging while expanding on your sports performance.
