I am a licensed clinical social worker with 20+ years experience working with individuals and families. Issues addressed include trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, self-esteem, grief and old patterns of behavior that negatively affect my clients' well being. I believe it is important to provide a safe and supportive space for my clients to experience healing and personal growth.
My approach to therapy is client centered and eclectic. I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and yoga. This creates a mind-body approach which allows a more holistic healing and provides clients with self-regulation skills.
For those who are not familiar with EMDR, it is effective in healing symptoms and emotional distress of trauma, disturbing life events and negative core beliefs. It helps activate clients' natural healing process by helping the brain process the experience or beliefs, resulting in more adaptive thoughts, behaviors and interactions.
