My treatment philosophy is to meet people where they are and work collaboratively to help define a more positive and joyful path forward. I look to my clients as experts on their situation, thought processes and experiences. It is through this shared work that I best utilize my clinical skills to help individuals identify unhelpful thinking patterns, self defeating behaviors, as well as any barriers to reaching identified goals. Once we identify what is standing in the way, I help my clients implement relevant strategies and coping skills to assist in independent emotional regulation.
My expertise is in the treatment of mood disorders, trauma (including complex and developmental trauma), perinatal mood disorders, and issues pertaining to obesity - including pre and post operative support for bariatric surgery. I also identify myself as an LGBTQIA+ ally and have wide ranging experience serving this community including those in transition.
I make special effort to tailor the counseling experience to the individual, rather than applying any kind of "one size fits all" treatment modality. Though my practice is certainly informed by evidenced based research and techniques, it is important to customize the approach that will best facilitate active engagement and positive outcomes.
