At Heart Light, we believe that personal growth is a natural psychological process that fundamentally belongs to you, not to us. We envision ourselves as more akin to doctors that deliver babies. We are ready to intervene as and when needed, but our primary role is to facilitate a natural process that belongs, first and foremost, to you. James Ogle, LCSW, is a highly skilled therapist who works with adolescents, families, and couples. He has over 15 years of clinical work experience in various settings. James has a gift of being able to quickly identify effective behavioral strategies that resolve problems for adolescents in trouble, couples in conflict, and those struggling with depression, anxiety, and stress. James uses motivational therapies to help people with addictions, substance use problems, and anger management issues implement behavior change in order to stop struggling and get their lives back on track.

We all experience emotional and physical difficulties from time to time. Often we are able to deal with these life experiences ourselves. Sometimes, however, it is not possible for us to resolve these challenges alone. In these situations professional help is appropriate. Until fifty years ago anyone experiencing psychological and/or physical stress was treated individually. Family therapy grew out of a simple but profound idea: People in crisis can often be best understood and treated within their own famiies. As a certified family therapist, as well as a certified psychoanalyst, I have the education necessary to see both famiies and individuals.

Having spent 16 years in the counseling field helping people overcome their addictive disorders, I have developed an effective, outpatient approach which helps people resolve their addiction issues. Addictions include substance use disorders to drugs and alcohol, or process addictions such as gambling, sex addiction, or compulsive shopping. I use a combination of three types of therapies: Insight Oriented Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as, CBT and DBT when appropriate. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples and also see family members helping them find wellness, while they encourage their loved ones to enter treatment.
