Because everyone comes with their own needs, goals, and styles, I am flexible in my approach. I can be practical and problem-focused, but much of my work is deeper, and deals with emotional patterns developed early in life, I work a lot with trauma and loss. Attending to the therapy relationship is also important for learning about relationship patterns and trust. I bring my love of creativity to my work as well. Working with dreams and imagery, I find, can bring surprising insight. When therapy really takes off, I find that clients often discover their own creativity and a sense of life purpose.
One of my specialties is working with eating disorders. Often this involves working with a team, including doctors and nutritionists. One's relationship with one's body, is deep and complex. When an eating disorder arises, it is an opportunity for a profound course -correction in family relationships, emotional patterns, and self-concept.
I often attend to somatic experience to ground insight and integrate difficult emotions. This practice is connected with mindfulness, and developing a stronger internal witness and enlivened sense of self. Clients often develop a new narrative of their lives that make sense of their experiences and empowers them to move forward in more satisfying ways.
