I have worked in private practice since 1995. In that time, I have come to appreciate the collaboration and interplay between my clients and myself. I encourage people to pursue adaptations of their ideas, life choices and relationships as a way of taking charge of their own lives. Usually it takes many small shifts and multiple steps to lead to a beneficial outcome. It's not easy but therapy can be rewarding and life altering with the development of insight and the use of extra support to move forward.
Due to the current stressors in the world, I'm focusing more on trauma therapy specialty. I have been using EMDR Therapy in the treatment of PTSD and adverse life experiences. EMDR can not only help with alleviating symptoms, but clients tend to cope in more productive ways after the treatments. It is an amazing treatment which can have great benefits.
Though I have traditional training in psychotherapy, I have been meditating for over 20 years and I am trained and certified in iRest Yoga Nidra meditation. I use these skills in my work to help people experience calm and peacefulness. Once a person learns to create a more peaceful mindset they become able to access those feelings on a more regular basis.
