Hello, and welcome! Are you finding life's challenges pretty overwhelming at times? I've been there, and I understand. I can help you explore those challenges and find the best way for you to address them. Are you at a crossroads in your journey, feeling that there must be more in life for you to experience? I've been helping clients with these and other concerns for over 35 years. I can help with anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality issues, health concerns, and grief and loss. Your sessions with me will be at least a full 60 minutes; I just don't believe in the "50 minute hour!" My education and experience as a registered nurse and psychotherapist allows me to provide you with an integrated and holistic approach to whatever you are experiencing in your life. Our emotions and mental status are always intertwined with our physical health and need to be approached as a whole. I also believe that we are more than our mind/body selves. There are aspects to our lives that cannot be explained by traditional studies, and these need to be acknowledged, too.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to the healing process. My approach to counseling is one that balances warmth and validation with healthy growth-fostering challenge and confrontation of unhealthy patterns through an emotion and attachment-focused lens. I enjoy bringing creativity, passion and dedication to my counseling practice. Areas of specialty include women's sexual and reproductive health, couples work, intimate partner relationships, chronic pain/illness and family of origin relationships. I am an advocate of social justice and identify as an ally to LGBTQQIA+ & BIPOC communities.

Joanne Rupert is the Founder and Operational Leader of FRTC. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor. In addition, Joanne is a Level 1 Mediator. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and has advanced training in EMDR Post Traumatic Stress and Addictions and is also trained in Brain Spotting. She has 30+ years of experience in First Response working as a professional and volunteer for Ambulance, Fire, and Law Enforcement. She is currently in private practice for First Responder Trauma Counselors.
