Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT
My approach is informed by my Christian faith which enables me to incorporate a faith-based perspective into counseling for those who prefer that. More often than not, Christians are made to believe that when we struggle it's because we're not praying or reading the Bible enough and thus lacking faith in God to care for our needs. Additionally, there can be a stigma attached to mental illness. However, I'm going to challenge these assumptions. As the author of the article "Does Going to Therapy Mean I Have a Lack of Faith?" wrote, God is the mighty healer. As your therapist, I am simply a vessel of His healing grace.
I work with clients who are dealing with a variety of issues both individually, in the context of relationships or within the family dynamic. I am especially interested in helping people heal from past or current traumas and take a holistic approach of mind, body and spirit. While I grew up in the Christian faith, I welcome people from all faith backgrounds.
As your therapist, I will serve as your guide, coming alongside you with compassion and empathy, gently pointing out negative thought patterns, highlighting unhealthy ways of relating, and providing tools to cope in more positive ways. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where your issues can be explored and processed.
