Christopher Deussing's Groups

DBT Skills Group (Beginners through Advanced)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a powerful therapy for individuals who have trouble regulating emotions & behaviors. These groups help replace problematic thought / behavior patterns with more adaptive ways of coping to create a "life worth living." We focus on 4 skills modules: 1) Mindfulness, 2) Distress Tolerance, 3) Emotion Regulation, & 4) Interpersonal Effectiveness. Our Intermediate & Advanced groups integrate didactic skills training with a psychodynamic group process, helping clients utilize existing skill-based knowledge in current life situations. Our next group is scheduled to launch November 2019.

More about this group

Open Circle Process Group

Emotional resilience -- the capacity to feel disappointment, hurt, ambivalence, frustration, failure / success, intense feelings / impulses, etc...& still effectively work, love, & play -- is vital for personal & social maturation. This experiential workshop catalyzes the development of psychological flexibility, courage, & strength through the therapeutic assignment of healthily "saying everything." This group is on hiatus.

Mind & Emotions Group

By integrating elements of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), & Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), this seminar teaches practical techniques needed to effectively manage distressing psychological presentations & intense emotional states. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of seven dysfunctional defense mechanisms that keep clients trapped in painful repetition cycles. In addition to addressing traditional symptoms of anxiety/anger/shame/depression, etc., participants strive to holistically understand the root causes of their suffering. This group is on hiatus.
