In the first therapy session, I will explain informed consent and answer any questions about my experience that you may have. I realize I am a new person for you and do not expect you to "open up" completely. So, if there is something you do not want to talk about, that is perfectly fine.
I will need to ask some questions that may feel irrelevant, and it may feel like an interview, but these questions are important for me to ask. We will discuss your presenting problems and how these issues are affecting your life overall. We will then close the session by discussing your goals and scheduling follow-up sessions.
