Christine Schmidt, LCSW, CGP, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Brooklyn
Together, we can examine issues that are troubling you. Relationship difficulties and matters that make you feel depressed or anxious can be addressed in psychotherapy. I am especially interested in helping you understand and resolve troublesome behavior patterns, stresses about racial and ethnic identity, and sexuality. Navigating life's challenges - whether it's a relationship disappointment, illnesses, loss or injustices - are often too painful to address alone. Together, we will work to restore your hope, self-confidence and develop a winning spirit to use when encountering future obstacles.
As a therapist, I offer a combination of individual and group psychotherapy in my centrally located Brooklyn Heights office. My psychotherapy approach is dynamic and goal-oriented. My personal style is thoughtful and positive.
In addition to twenty-five years as a practitioner, I have extensive experience in team building, conflict resolution and youth development. From a systems perspective, I can help you understand and navigate peer pressure, submissiveness, power struggles and confront structural inequities.

Women and the Body Experience

This is a short term group for women who want to examine the web of unhealthy cultural messages we've absorbed into our bodies about suppressing angry feelings. As the group leader, I offer didactic, supportive, and interactive opportunities for women to learn from each other in real-time.
