Hello, my name is Christine Oyamo a licensed mental health counselor. I have been practicing for 5 years. My approach to therapy is person centered, and I believe that a collaborative effort with a multimodal approach produces the best outcomes in therapy. The theoretical approaches that I utilize mostly include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, narrative therapy, psychoeducation as well as dialectic behavioral therapy. I have experience working with a diverse population including personality disorder, schizophrenia, relationship issues, anxiety, stress, depression, bipolar and more.
I was attracted to a career as a therapist after shadowing a therapist and realizing the impact helping professions have in improving the quality of life of those that need the services. I have been practicing since 2019 and I have enjoyed every moment of it because it is a passion of mine to help clients feel empowered, supported and understood.
I assist the client in gaining insight and exploring the root of their issues and concerns and collaborate with the client in setting goals that are more in line with what they want to get out of therapy. I believe in creating a safe and respectful environment, with the belief that the client is the expert of their own experiences.
