As a therapist & human, I believe that our deepest pain is often with our deepest longings. My work & approach are rooted in attachment-based research, & my theory of change begins with the belief that we have an innately human need to connect & belong. I strive to create a space where you can belong, first & foremost. I pay close attention to the ways early relationships shape how we see ourselves, connect with others & move in this complex world. I believe I understand how pain, loss, and disconnection can leave lasting imprints on us and contribute to our sense of alienation.
I utilize EFIT and EFT techniques, such as evoking, reframing, validation, conjecture, compassionate inquiry, and empathy, as my primary tools to connect with your sense of self and help you discover your longings. I also bring somatic awareness into each session to help us understand your body's responses to threats and emotion.
I am direct and open. I don't use a lot of clinical language, but I use a lot of language around connection, security, emotional self, and patterns of relating. I use metaphors to describe phenomena, and sometimes they land quite well and make more sense.
