Christina Unruh, MSW, LCSWA, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Cary
Loneliness and isolation are at the root of mental health problems. I specialize in helping adults and adolescents achieve healthy relationships and increase social skills. I will give you a nonjudgmental space where you can share your deepest thoughts and emotions safely. I am intensively trained in treatments that are well supported by research: DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for help with depression, intense emotions, suicidal ideations, and harmful behaviors, and Exposure Therapy for anxiety, panic, and trauma. I also specialize in families and couples who are coping with addiction, chronic illness, parenting problems, and autism spectrum disorders.
Dialectical Behavior therapy is a skills-based treatment that addresses the unique ways that thoughts, emotions (and our efforts to avoid them) can increase stress, panic attacks, anxious or depressed mood, suicidal ideations, and urges to self harm or use drugs. It is especially helpful for social and relationship problems.
I am available for sessions throughout the week including evenings and weekends. My practice is private and confidential, and scheduling/payment is easy through HIPAA compliant texting software. I will provide a superbill for out-of-network insurance.
