My approach emphasizes respect, transparency, authenticity, and collaboration. I believe that most problems exert their influence on people by blinding them to their own strengths, resources and potential solutions. Problems can saturate people's lives in complex and expansive ways. As a curious outsider with training and experience, I work with clients to debunk dysfunctional assumptions, and to challenge problem-inspired patterns. It's an honor to witness and support clients, as they practice living more consistently with their articulated values and goals, progressing towards more preferred ways of being.
I use IFS-informed EMDR and traditional EMDR therapy to help individuals, ages 12+, adjust to significant life changes (i.e., adolescence, parenthood, loss), to identify and nurture necessary strengths and resources, and overcome the effects of adverse life experiences (abuse, neglect, bullying, violence, etc.).
A good client-therapist fit is essential for progress in therapy, and I welcome your feedback. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, to hear about your hopes for therapy, and assess whether I might meet your needs. Caregivers of infants should feel welcome to bring little ones, there's plenty of room!
