Hi, I'm Dawn! I'm a Licensed Certified Social Worker, which is a fancy way of saying I've spent years studying the art of not judging you while you talk about your feelings. I'm experienced in helping people deal with addiction/recovery, 12-steps as well as harm reduction, from mild to severe mental illness, and basically anything else that's causing you emotional pain. My therapy sessions offer a safe non judgmental space to feel feelings and grow while learning to let the pain pass...or at least learn to laugh at it.
As a therapist, I approach my work in a way that mirrors my personal approach to life, drawing heavily on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral skills, and short-term solution focused therapy, as well as trauma-focused sensitivity in talk therapy.
I have a diverse history marked by personal struggles, including adoption, abandonment, abuse, addiction, and homelessness, but I've overcome many obstacles and continue to learn, grow, and recover, which has given me a unique perspective to help others do the same.
