Life can feel overwhelming at times! It comes hard, quick, unsolicited, and is indiscriminate. Am I doing enough? Am I good enough? What’s next? You may feel as though you want to seek refuge by hiding in your office away from others or perhaps in the bathroom away from family. Your plate is overflowing and trying to balance it all can be a challenge. You are barely getting by, haunted by mistakes and events of the past. Your relationships are suffering, and your concept of self is dwindling. You wish you could find balance and take care of self, all while being an amazing parent, child, spouse, or coworker, etc.

Life can be challenging. Sometimes we worry that coming to therapy means something is wrong. I believe it means something is right. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to make positive changes in their life. I offer individual, couples and family therapy to those who are dealing with a variety of issues.

My preferred modalities are Motivation Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and accountability to form an eclectic style suited to each individual client. I value the innate potential each client has to gain insight and make the commitment to change their life when they are both ready and willing. I use compassion and accountability to provide a genuine platform for clients to reveal themselves without fear of judgments. In my therapeutic approach, I believe that each individual is unique. My treatment approach is customized to bring greater self-awareness, psychological healing, and inner satisfaction.

In the counseling room, I desire to create an atmosphere of safety, warmth, empathy, respect, & authenticity so you can feel empowered to be yourself. My counseling experience consists of supporting adolescents, women, & couples through the peaks & valleys of life. Some of the experiences these clients faced include trauma, boundary & attachment issues, behavioral & sexual issues, life transitions, depression, anxiety, anger, past hurts, relationship disconnection & spiritual issues. I am also a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator, & use this program to support premarital & marital couples through assessment & enrichment.

I have worked with adoptive and foster families and in child mental health for over a decade. I am committed to supporting long-term family success- not just surviving your daily routine but thriving each day. I will meet you where you are and assist you in addressing attachment and relationship issues between family members, processing grief and loss, developing parenting interventions to address behavioral concern and directly with you and/or your child in order to help them understand and process his or her own unique story.

What we know for sure is that life is beautifully complex. No one is exempt from new challenges, life transitions, pain or conflict. While past experiences influence the present, what happens to you does not have to dictate your overall quality of life. Emotional wellness requires dedicated attention and a commitment to being and doing better. When we begin to see challenges as purposeful moments urging us to learn, heal, grow and evolve, we can begin to accept, and even honor, our circumstances. How do you do that? Life is not always easy. Sometimes life is challenging because of circumstances related to our actions; sometimes these challenges are a result of circumstances beyond our control. Regardless, these circumstances do not define us. It is, instead, our response to these circumstances that determines our course. My passion is working with individuals and families who are facing these storms. I love walking with my clients through these storms and into a bright new day. It is my hope that each of my clients will learn not just to weather and survive these storms but rather to conquer and overcome them.

Meredith has vast experience counseling in a variety of settings with adolescents, women, couples, & families over the past 15 years with Young Life & in her private practice, Milk + Honey Counseling. She has served as the guidance counselor for a local private school for K-12th grades. Meredith has a passion to help children & teenagers, college aged women, parents, and couples discover who they are & live the full life they were intended to live. She longs for people to find more balance & joy in life by offering hope in somewhat dark places.

I have multiple years of experience counseling families struggling with trauma-based behavioral and parenting issues. I have extensive experience working with adolescent and young adult populations challenged with developing the skills to transition into effective adulthood. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who struggle with addictions, depression, anxiety, relational issues, grief and loss, men’s issues, codependence, trauma, and parenting issues. I have experience delivering parental guidance and life skills training.
