Hello! I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist and co-founder of SureHope Counseling & Training Center. I have a master's degree in Christian counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. I specialize in counseling couples concerning dating, engagement and marital issues. I offer couple intensives and train other therapists and church staff in working with couples. I offer counseling for PTSD, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD and relationship difficulties. If you struggle with PTSD because of the past traumas, I will gently help you decrease distress by processing and making sense of traumatic events and equipping you to respond rather than react in triggering situations. If you need counseling for anxiety and depression, we will work on skills to regulate your emotions, bring your anxiety to a healthy level, and help you experience joy, purpose and connection with others. If you seek counseling for OCD, I can help you tolerate uncertainty and fears to improve your quality of life.

For many of life’s issues, it is helpful to talk with someone within a nonjudgmental, safe environment. To be listened to and heard in a way that facilitates an understanding of what the underlying origin of the problem is in order to bring about healing. Kimberly uses the psychodynamic approach to counseling as a means to assist clients with understanding themselves more deeply. Serving adults, couples and adolescents, she collaborates with the client to address patterns and behaviors that disrupt wellbeing.

I am a fully licensed social worker and use clinical skills as I serve my clients. I also use Christian-based therapy with clients who have identified as desiring this service. I also worked for several years on staff with a Christian college ministry at Virginia Tech.
