I'm here to help you grow and change on your passage through life! Sometimes people have challenges to start with like thinking differently, or a difficult family. We may have questions about whether we still fit into a social or religious group. Challenges are harder if depression or anxiety hold us back or if we feel like we're stuck. Finding an empathetic, experienced therapist can be a connection to taking you out of isolation and uncovering your innate ability to change. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have done my own work to grow and I look forward to helping you!

The Virginia Institute of Pastoral Care is a pastoral counseling center open to everyone. There is a place for you here— whether you practice a faith tradition or are searching, whether you are looking for support as you take the next steps in your life or you feel sad, stuck or unhappy. Our counselors are trained mental health professionals, many of whom are also practicing clergy. But we don’t preach: we listen. We offer counseling for children, families, couples, and adults including seniors. Group therapy services are also available.

How do you find the right therapist for you? As a practicing psychotherapist, I am committed to working with individuals that are interested in making a change in their lives. The decision to seek counseling is often a difficult decision to make. However, it is my belief that once you have made that first step in wanting and pursuing counseling, you have already moved in the direction of your own healing.

What I love about counseling is that it rests on the belief that change is always possible, and that how we lived yesterday does not have to determine how we live tomorrow. No matter how dark today is, I believe that the future can be bright. My goal as a therapist is to offer a safe environment where you can grow with maximum support.

Hi! Seeking therapy is often a difficult decision; I would like to make that decision easier by offering a comfortable, safe environment to address life's challenges. Whether managing a life transition, addressing a relationship conflict, coping with difficult past experiences or changing unwanted behavioral patterns, I am here to lend a hand and offer support. My passion is working with adolescents, young adults, and couples. Adolescence and young adulthood present unique obstacles when developing positive relationships, self-image, and healthy independence are very important. I would like to help you develop the tools needed to face these challenges in the most effective way.

Eirene simply means peace and reconciliation within yourself and with other people. How is your relationship with yourself? What about with other people? When those relationships are unbalanced it can look like repeating the same dysfunctional patterns no matter how hard you try. It can feel like you are stuck, unmotivated, frustrated and don't have the energy to make the changes you desire or not being sure of what changes you need to make to live a fuller, more complete life. You may also feel overwhelmed, anxiety filled, doubt in yourself and your abilities, anger/irritation, and setting impossible goals for yourself.

Often the first step towards making a change is taking a realistic look at where you've been, where you are now, and where you want to be. Although it can be painfully difficult at first, you can begin making changes, one day at a time, that will take you closer to living the life you desire. Using EMDR and talk therapy, we'll focus on healing the wounds of the past, finding joy in the present, and bringing clarity to your future. This pandemic is hard. My office serves as a safe place to come process what you have experienced during COVID. I offer virtual and in person sessions. I take Medicaid insurance. My client speciality leans towards those who are disabled, chronically sick, or who have experienced grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life altering events. Whether or not you have experienced trauma or are depressed, I can help. I have a wide array of experience, training, and certifications. I also help those in need aquire service dogs and/or emotional support animals.

The world can be a tough place and it is easy feel lonely, depressed, anxious, abandoned, or that no matter how hard we try, things never seem to change. Our inner parts and wounds can make it difficult to live fully in the present, establish healthy connection to others, and break free from past patterns. This is because we can hold onto past traumas, hurts, misfortunes, and grief which may develop into negative beliefs about ourselves that keep us stuck and in the dark. The good news is that we all have the innate capacity to heal and to live a life of joy, peace, confidence, presence, and clarity.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor who believes that each of us has inner strength to help us cope with life's struggles. I am passionate about working with adolescents, adults and their families to overcome a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse. My experience includes working with adolescents and adults in hospital settings and private practice. I use a variety of techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family Therapy, and a Faith Centered Approach upon request.

Building confident kids with social skills, advocating for the disabled with skills for employment, and strengthening family communications are the pillars of my passion. Helping children to cope and confidence for happiness, health, and healing can be answered with Play Therapy. Beginning and maintaining employment for individuals with disabilities can be intimidating. I provide support to adults with strategies to navigate through employment. Also, the home environment is first place where healthy family communication should begin through family counseling.

Tim is a licensed professional counselor and has worked with children, families, and adults in the Lynchburg area in a variety of settings providing clinical assessments, individual therapy, crisis services, and school-based/home-based services since 2013. Throughout his time, Tim has worked with individuals experiencing a range of difficulties, some of which include: adjusting to life changes, working through relationship hardships, depression, anxiety/stress, anger, grief, and other various or chronic mental illnesses.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, or a relationship problem? Depression can steal your joy and drain your hope. Excessive worry and anxiety can choke the fun out of life and limit your forward movement. Panic attacks can disrupt your days and nights, Fear of humiliation or embarrassment can be so intense that it isolates you from normal social activities. Whether you're married or not, lack of trust, a lost connection, or a poor communication style can take your relationship near its breaking point.

I work with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, adjustment, stress, anger management, attention deficit, and relationship issues. Symptoms related to these issues can include feelings of hopelessness, lack of interest in activities that used to bring pleasure, change in appetite, significant weight gain or loss, difficulty sleeping, excessive worry, irritability, mood swings, and difficulty concentrating. Sometimes these symptoms can be overwhelming and uncomfortable. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches based on treatment goals and how an individual processes thoughts and emotions.

As a longtime resident of Northern Virginia, I know personally that there are unique aspects to living in this area that can magnify the anxiety and pressure that we feel. I primarily work with teen girls (12+) and women who are overwhelmed by their stress at school, work, or home as well as those stuck in a transition - whether that be adjusting to middle school, high school, college, post-college life, post-partum life, pandemic life, a relationship or family change, a loss, and more.

Life is filled with adventure, love, joy, happiness, dreams and the list can go on and on... right? Well I know that certain experiences such as traumatic events, loss, and other situations transpire that directly impact our ability to remain hopeful about our future/purpose. When we look in the mirror, we no longer see the beauty, strength, boldness, creativity, intellect that we once saw. Instead, the "fog/steam" of life obstructs and distorts our view. Well, I would argue that the image/reflection has never changed...just your ability to see it. My role is to be a "defroster."

I am a Master's level Resident in Counseling. My main purpose and passion is to be the catalyst of change for those who are ready and willing to do the work to better their lives and future. I am supportive, non-judgmental, and able to assist in helping clients feel heard and valued. When stresses of life begin to impact day to day functioning, personal and professional growth are limited. In providing a safe, secure, trusting and motivational environment, you can find change, peace of mind and growth.

First, I'd like to say that there is strength in reaching out for support! My clients are diverse and have unique backgrounds and challenges. Many of my clients are young to middle-aged adult women, whom I've greatly enjoyed working with. Though many of our challenges may be interconnected, my work with clients mostly focuses on empowerment, self-compassion, and confidence. My clients are AMAZED by how their focus on increasing self-love, positively reverberates in every aspect of their lives.
