My name is Nicole Byrum, and I am an independently licensed marriage and family therapist with 16 years of clinical experience. I have worked with a variety of clientele, and much of my work has been with those facing Anxiety, Coping Skills, Depression, Relationship Issues, and Substance Use. I often use a mix of Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Dialectical (DBT), and many more. I believe it is the client's job to determine the goals for therapy, but I will come alongside them to help determine the objectives connected to that goal.

I believe in meeting a person where they are and moving forward from there. I feel people often come to therapy to help find the best version of themselves. I enjoy helping others find solutions to their problems, helping them identify their strengths, and deciding how to improve their weaknesses.

If I were to say if I had a type of client, it would someone that wants help. If there is a need for me to work harder than the person coming for the therapy session, then maybe they just might not yet be ready to address some of the deeper-rooted issues that led them to step out and ask for help. I know I try to remain more attuned and aware that the readiness to change is key to the success of therapy for a client. I want to work in tandem with the person to reach the goals they have set for themselves.

My ideal client is open about their issues and needs and motivated to work through them. My client's goal will be to build a foundation of good mental health that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives and use to improve their own lives as well as their family and friends. My ideal client comes to therapy because they want to be there and value what they can learn from their therapist and themselves.
