Dr. Larry Stephens is a professional counselor working in private practice in Dayton, Ohio. He specializes in clinical mental health and substance abuse counseling. With over 29 years of combined counseling and clinical/administrative supervisory experience in the Behavioral Healthcare field, and he is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of adult clients. Among his areas of expertise are substance abuse/dependence, spiritual issues, depression/anxiety, marriage/other relationship issues, social skills development, anger management, sexual compulsivity, grief and loss, stage of life transition/adjustment issues. .

I have been providing therapeutic services for over twenty five years working with clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings where I have provided crisis intervention, counseling and support in areas of acute, chronic, terminal medical illnesses or trauma circumstances, as well as, people experiencing depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns.

I'm not sure I have an ideal client. I believe in meeting a person where they are and moving forward from there. I feel people often come to therapy to help find the best version of themselves. I enjoy helping others find solutions to their problems, helping them identify their strengths, and deciding how to improve their weaknesses.

As a Registered Nurse for the past 27 years, I have had the unique opportunity to care for patients in various stages of their physical, emotional, and mental health. It has been my calling to walk with patients as they navigate through difficult times. Unfortunately, people of color have been subjected to systemic disenfranchisement and social injustice, which has often resulted in trauma. Jacqueline McKenzie received the degree of Associate of Applied Science in Mental Health Technology Degree in 1974. She recieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from The University of Dayton in 1989. A Master of Arts in Specialized Ministries from The United Theological Seminary in December,2005. Jacqueline McKenzie's professional experiences includes outpatient and inpatient psychotherapy. She has supervised Master Level Social Worker students. Jacqueline McKenzie has taught at adjunct at WIlberforce University. The Wright State University as adjunct professor a course on Contextual Ethics for social workers.

I work with psychosocial issues such as substance abuse and mental health, homelessness, and help problem solve various individuals and families social issues to enhance quality of life.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I see clients of all ages with various presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and marital issues. My preferred area of focus is trauma. I also offer EMDR treatment.

Issues and concerns Rebecca can address include couples with trauma and affairs, addictions, and relational conflict and distress. Rebecca can assist couples with discernment counseling in which one or both partners are unsure if they want to stay in the relationship. Rebecca treats individuals with a history of developmental trauma, individuals struggling with depression, anxiety and PTSD.

If I were to say if I had a type of client, it would someone that wants help. If there is a need for me to work harder than the person coming for the therapy session, then maybe they just might not yet be ready to address some of the deeper-rooted issues that led them to step out and ask for help. I know I try to remain more attuned and aware that the readiness to change is key to the success of therapy for a client. I want to work in tandem with the person to reach the goals they have set for themselves.
