I am an ordained minister with over 30 years of counseling experience in pastoral care and spiritual development. I also have over 15 years of addiction counseling experience with substance abuse and was an Executive Director of a sober housing facility. I provide clinical therapy for individuals, couples, and families facing issues like anxiety, addiction, trauma, sexual abuse, complex-PTSD, marriage and family issues, and spiritual growth.

My goal as a therapist is to provide a space that feels warm, supportive, and curious. I hold a firm belief that there's power in the therapeutic relationship and that providing a space that feels safe to explore difficult experiences/emotions is essential. It's always been my mission to provide a whole-person approach to the work I do as a therapist. Coming from a social work background, my style is person-centered, gentle, curious, and compassionate. Each person brings a different set of strengths to the challenges they face, and my work strives to identify these strengths with you to find a way forward.

I feel I am a different kind of counselor, because there is not a sense of separation between client and counselor. Clients are often impressed with how quickly times goes in session, they explain, "it's like talking to a good friend", "you make me feel so comfortable and not judged". We still get the work done just as effectively, but prepare to feel more relaxed....our offices are homey and comfortable. We kick our feet up on a coffee table, and chat in a way that allows people to feel more like talking to a friend than a stranger.

All individuals need support during some stage in life. This is an extremely challenging time! During this time many individuals are facing trauma, anxiety, issues with mood, grief/loss or terminal illness. Many families today have also been touched by illness, separation, divorce and parenting concerns. I feel privileged to share in their experiences and have an accepting, warm regard for the struggles that people endure along life's journey. Relief comes with being understood and with workable options that feel right to you. I do therapy with individuals and couples. Currently, the practice is limited to adult women aged 25 and older, individuals who feel stress, anxiety, or depression.

Becky Silvia, LICSW Becky Silvia is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Maine who has been practicing since 1988. She received a Master's in Social Work from Boston University and completed several post-Master's trainings, including treatment for Depression, Anxiety, Life transitions, Relationship Issues, Grief and Loss, and Caregiver Stress. Becky has several years' experience helping clients dealing with trauma, work and relationships issues, health and medical challenges, depression, anxiety, and issues of loss and grief. She knows life can be hard.
