I am experienced in and enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I believe no one should have to walk alone through the challenges and difficulties of life. I consider it a privilege to provide support and encouragement to others while helping them to find the hope and healing God offers through His love and grace. I stress the importance of the therapeutic relationship as the means in which to help others gain personal growth and strength in order to live the life God has called them to live. I have been married 33 years and have four adult children.

At times, people experience a loss of hope and an inability to find meaning in their lives. They may struggle with depression, trauma, grief, addiction, relationship problems, or developmental issues that can affect us at any time across the lifespan. Through counseling, I will work collaboratively with you to resolve your current issues. I also work with parents struggling with raising their children, and couples who struggle with communication issues and/or repeated core conflicts. Our goal will be to develop better ways to manage emotions, improve problem solving strategies, and find new ways to look at the world.

What situation qualifies for counseling? My answer to that is being human. Many believe that counseling is only necessary for major life events. The truth is you do not have to be on the high end of the stress spectrum to seek professional support. Life can be hard. Counseling provides a supportive and nonjudgmental space to process all circumstances.

This world is hard and we all need someone to come alongside of them to be their cheerleader. I have experienced first hand how trauma has impacted the life of families and individuals and do not want you to walk this path alone. I have lots of experience working with those in the child welfare system, whether it is children, biological parents, foster parents, adoptive parents or child welfare workers and I want to see you successful in all that you do.

Counseling can serve many different purposes--it can help us gain understanding into ourselves, gain understanding in how we navigate our world and relationships, it can help us heal from past hurts. I strive to offer a therapeutic setting where clients feel welcome and safe to process challenges in life and to gain perspective. For some clients building skills and tools can be helpful in overcoming struggles. I provide an avenue to equip clients in this way. I have been a counselor for over 30 years, and believe people are uniquely created with God given potential to live a victorious life.

I have a deep passion for community development, culture diversity and human connection. In my experience my clients know themselves better than anyone, they are their own best resource when it comes to choosing the right treatment for them. I see our time together as a joint venture, our knowledge combined creates the solutions and tools needed to uncover patterns and emotions they may not even be aware of. I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual. I am easy going, down to earth and use a person-centered approach to counseling. I am trained in DBT, CBT and play therapy. My area of expertise is working with those who struggle with addictions, spirituality, trauma, depression and anxiety.

Counseling is deeply personal and relational in nature. I strive to create a place of safety and hope for all those who would seek counseling with me. I work to maintain a trauma informed and multicultural practice; meaning that I understand and am sensitive to the effects of trauma as well as the impact that culture has on the lives of my clients. As such I endeavor to practice in a way that welcomes and embraces individuals from all different backgrounds.

I have experience working with youth diagnosed with severe emotional disturbances, family conflict, female survivors of domestic violence, refugees, as well as young adults on college campus.

I help clients get to the root of their issues through the evidenced base and life approaches, be it life changes, midlife crises, or just need to get back on track. This is all done through a person-centered approach where we focus on the needs and desires of the client. Goals are attainable in any case, I only ask for honesty reflection of self.
