Something has tipped the balance for you from managing your pain and coping with your stresses, to "I can’t do this alone.” It is a scary place to be in, and it says a lot about your character that you’re willing to reach out. My clients have reached that point in a number of issues. Religious trauma, dissociation, anxiety, depression and LGBTQ issues factor big among my clients.
I’m 50 years old, and I’ve scrolled through lists of therapists thinking, “there’s no way I’m going to see a therapist younger than me.” No shade on younger therapists, but I want you to know that I have a lot of lived experience that I bring to the table, and a whole lot of water under the bridge that gives me empathy for the struggles you bring.
If we work together, developing self-compassion, ways to soothe your nervous system, and ways to re-access your capacity to be there for yourself are probably going to figure heavily into our work.
