Hello, my name is Christa Brown and I have the privilege of being in a field helping others. I will paraphrase an old Irish proverb to give an example of how I see the counseling relationship. "A tree alone in a storm may not have the best chance to survive or thrive, although, a tree that is amongst the forest in the storm has the best chance of survival and thriving." My hope is that in the counseling relationship my client's learn to draw from their own strength and the support of others to survive and thrive when they encounter storms in their lives.
Having training and experience helping those who have histories of trauma is so valuable because evidence based therapy results in clients having decreased symptoms from their trauma. I also, apply a client-centered and solution focused approach because of the ability to help the client explore their needs quickly and become empowered by their solutions.
I simply, love what I do. I grew up in Tucson Arizona around my families business in the field of grief. My life experiences and job opportunities in hospitals, academic and outpatient counseling settings have shaped me to be able to help others needing support at troublesome times in their lives.
