I am interested in treating individuals who feel emotional distress. This could be from anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and social/relational issues. Many people engage in dysfunctional coping strategies that only produce short-term relief, but actually perpetuate the distress. This ultimately makes them distress intolerant. I am interested in motivating my clients to manage their distress more effectively. I have over 20 years of clinical experience. I have graduate degrees in Clinical Psychology and Social Work.
I individualize treatment as much as possible. I use a life span approach to help clients understand how reactions to early experiences bond to thinking and emotion, producing the ineffective coping that gets triggered by life situations. I use various strategies to then modify thinking, emotion and resulting behavior.
I recognize that our issues are as unique to us as our fingerprints. Empathy and sensitivity are staples of my practice. I encourage my clients to view my office as a place where they can feel safe, comfortable and explore their vulnerabilities without judgment.
