I hold a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI. I have more than 22 years experience working in the mental health field including crisis intervention, domestic violence, grief, and severe and persistent mental illness both inpatient and outpatient treatment. When we find it difficult to be at ease with aspects of ourselves, our lives, or relationships, increasing awareness of our beliefs and patterns can begin to create possibilities for change. These explorations enable people to move from where they are, toward life & relationships they envision.
I believe that good counseling is a balance between supporting and understanding experiences and challenging individuals to gain insight into themselves and grow. At times, the journey of therapy may feel like “hard work.” However, joy, fun, and humor are also parts of being human and are important parts of the therapeutic work I do.
