I am the Owner/Director of TLCC "where an open ear is always here". I specialize in severe mental health issues ranging from psychosis, anxiety, depression, mood disorders. As a therapist, I have designed my practice and intensive outpatient clinic to provide services for severe mentally disabled children and adults.

My scope of practice includes a wide range of clients. I have worked with children, adolescents, families, groups and adults with various issues that include (but are not limited to) ADHD / ADD, Abuse / Neglect, Parenting Issues, Generalized Anxiety, Major Depression, PTSD, Bipolar I and Bipolar II, Oppositional Behaviors, Personality Disorders, Grief, etc.. I combine various aspects of different treatment modalities to provide the most individualized therapy possible. My goal is to help you work through the pain and / or issues that may be hindering you from wholeness / wellness.

Hello, my name is LaSonia Ashley and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have over 10 years of experience in mental and behavioral health, and I am known for my ability to reach those who cannot be reached. I am empathetic and skillful in helping clients with various hardships and lows in life. Anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorders, traumas, self-harm and emotional/behavioral difficulties are all issues that I am able to help you manage.

I've worked in a variety of clinical and hospital settings, including pain management, substance abuse, and mental health, as well as providing services in the community, schools, and homes. My clients include adults, families, adolescents, and children, who learn to view their challenges as opportunities for growth!

Mental Health recovery is possible and it starts with having the courage to seek help. Taking care of your mental health is an act of self-love. There is no shame in seeking help for your mental health. I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, and other day-to-day challenges. It is my goal to help clients identify their strengths, help you learn coping skills, gain insight into your thought patterns and behaviors; to help you navigate life’s daily stressors and overcome the greater obstacles.

Someone once asked me, "Ashley, what is the number one thing that brings people to counseling?" I laughed and answered, "PEOPLE. People bring people to therapy!" We've all heard that adage: "People go to therapy for the people in their life that WON’T go to therapy”, and it's funny because it's absolutely true! As a professional counselor, I have never met someone who didn't have a story. Everyone has PEOPLE! Everyone has family struggles and relationship issues. Everyone has trouble processing emotions when they feel overwhelmed. Everyone needs someone to confide in and feel safe with, and that's what therapy can be for you.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I believe the counseling journey is a joint effort between the client and counselor. The objective for my clients during this journey is to create a partnership where they feel safe, free to speak their minds, and introduce them to a process void of judgment focused on overall well-being and mutual respect.

I believe, from personal experiences, years of practice & teaching, that anyone can be empowered to face life challenges. Empowered individuals are resilient & able to bounce back from adversities. My main focus is to empower you & your loved ones to overcome challenges. As a professor for 8 years, I have trained & supervised hundreds of graduate students on evidence-based practices, positive psychology, Strength-based approaches, CBT, Trauma Focused CBT, DBT, & integration of music & spirituality into counseling. CBT & Adlerian are my overarching modalities upon which I integrate other interventions tailored to clients' needs.

You know that some of this is okay; they are learning and growing. However, is all of it age appropriate? Their yelling is constant, their behavior is out of control, they are not following directions and their mood does not seem right. You feel frustrated, overwhelmed, concerned and nothing you do makes it better. You have tried disciplining, talking, taking away from them and used every tool you know but nothing has worked. As individuals, we face some of life’s most difficult challenges on a daily basis. Although we are all different in our life perspectives, we all are all similar in that we may need help in recognizing, and addressing the thoughts, challenges, and barriers that we experience. Processing these issues in a safe and non-judgmental environment allows for the space and time needed to reflect and reclaim. I embrace this perspective as a therapist. Previous clients have shared that my “calm presence” has helped them to feel comfortable enough to share their experiences, and that my “deep perspective” helps to drive change.
