Stephanie Breitenbach is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has over ten years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual and family settings. Stephanie specializes in treating depression, anxiety, life challenges, and trauma. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Arizona State University and her master’s degree at Grand Canyon University.

I work with adult individuals and children aged 2-18 and their families/caregivers. I focus on supporting clients to creatively turn their pain into coping skills, missed connections into secure relationships, and problematic behaviors into strengths and resiliency. I focus on practical, real-world strategies that build security and connection through a balance of nurture, engagement, structure, and challenge. These strategies are a resource that can then be utilized through different life experiences, stages, and adversity. I support children and caregivers alike to learn new ways of responding, guiding, and supporting one another.

The building blocks of your identity are rooted in the relational experiences you had as a child, the world you lived in, the resources available, and the challenges life sent your way. You may have learned that some emotions or needs were not acceptable or tolerable, some needs would need to be met indirectly through adaptations (such as perfectionism, people pleasing, playing small or withdrawing), or that some needs might not be met at all and would need to be abandoned or minimized. My role is to help you make sense of who you are, how you got here, your patterns of relating, and how to create the relationships you long for.

As a therapist, I have much to offer. My many varied years of professional experience as a clinical social worker, my excellent education, combined with my personal life experience serves me well. Together, we collaborate on a new trusted relationship built on safety that has the potential to aid your growth with whatever issue you choose to work on. I work especially well with children and adolescents and have a good foundation in play therapy, yet adults are often surprised that I can work equally well with their concerns. We can design an approach that works for you.

Established over 10 years ago, we originally opened as Prince William Family Counseling and provided the community with trustworthy therapy services in a safe, welcoming environment. In 2015 the agency was purchased and took on new ownership and we became Woodbridge Therapy Group. With the recent change in ownership, we have expanded our number of providers, added more services, and renewed our investment in the community.
