I have more than 20 years experience in relationship counseling, men's issues and family counseling. Electronic media and video game abuse have become important counseling topics that I treat. I help men with life transitions and work issues, partners navigate relationship issues and families resolve conflict. I help with difficult children & adolescents and wrote "How to Change Your Child's Behavior". It highlights principles of good parenting, why children get out of control, and how to establish rules. My protocol is used by schools, child welfare agencies, and juvenile justice systems. I also specialize in treating ADHD.

My areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and behavioral issues.

My approach to counseling is one of offering space to client for their own empowerment and assisting my clients in becoming active participants in their thoughts, growth, and lives. I strive to embody trust, transparency, and authenticity in all realms of my life and work. I believe a relationship with a counselor is a caring space where one can be themselves without worries of judgment. From my perspective, counseling is a safe relationship in which one can explore their concerns, learn about themselves and the world around them, and try new things to find what works to harness positive change and improve well-being.

Leah Blankenship (pronouns: she/her) is an experienced licensed professional counselor, who works with children, adolescents, adults, and groups. Her specialty interests include: women’s, men’s, and gender issues; career development; addictions; and trauma. She integrates art therapy, positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), gestalt, and multicultural counseling into practice. She utilizes treatment approaches that are evidence-based and uniquely tailored to each client.

In my work as a clinician, I utilize a creative and strengths based approach in helping clients identify their own path towards a whole versus fragmented sense of self. My goal in therapy is to empower the client to develop the capacity and skills to move past their suffering into a greater sense of well-being, peace and freedom.
