I have received advanced training in Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse, and I am also well-versed in cognitive, behavioral, mindfulness, and psychodynamic approaches. I began practicing in Maryland in 1978. I resumed practicing in New York in 2004 and added an office in New Jersey in 2013. My practice covers a broad age range from 2-90. I am most comfortable treating adults with a variety of mental health issues. I also see couples and do family therapy. In addition, I have done play therapy with children. I am also comfortable conducting psychological evaluations of children ranging in age from a year to 21 years. I am an expert in developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorders.

I have spent my career working in child welfare and with complex trauma survivors. I specialize in treating Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders. Clinical treatment approaches are based on Person-Centered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Disorders, Traumatology, and Emotion Effect Regulation. You must be committed to changing your life and doing the work required. If not, psychotherapy will not be effective, I assist you in doing the work which is required for symptom reduction.

Sometimes we all need a supportive ear when we become stuck. As a psychotherapist my goal is to provide a nonjudgemental safe space for clients to express themselves. Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities where confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Feel Better Therapy began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

The choice to start therapy isn’t always easy, sometimes it is the most difficult thing to do is to even consider it, then admit you want/need it before even taking the steps to start, but you are not alone on this journey. I earned my Bachelors in Sociology from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. and my Masters in Creative Arts Therapy & Creativity Development from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. I have multiple academic and art publications. My approach to Psychotherapy and Art Therapy is a means to explore the connection between mind and body that can be verbal and non-verbal. Being an individual born and raised in New York City, I understand how stressful city life can be on top of additional stressors in one’s personal life.
