Welcome to Gaining Clarity Counseling Services! All are welcome here! I take pride in being real. While techniques and interventions are important, the relationship between therapist and client is essential for positive outcomes. I have particular interest and experience in working with those impacted by traumatic experiences. I have come to recognize that much of client distress stems from unresolved trauma (grief, abuse, mistreatment, etc.). Together, we will address root causes and equip you with the tools necessary for sustainable lifestyle change.

I enjoy helping people become who they want to be and realize their potential. I offer sessions for individuals, couples and families. We'll work together to create an action plan to help you achieve your goals; to help you examine and change your thought patterns; and practice actions to find healing, growth and healthy relationships in your life.

I have great background in working with young children through adults. We are allowed to get angry, it is just about HOW we handle/express that anger. Hello, my name is Tara Wynant. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree from Liberty University, I bring a wealth of experience in supporting diverse populations. My journey in the helping professions spans from early childhood education to ministry, equipping me with deep empathy and a practical understanding of the challenges individuals face My philosophy centers around creating a non-judgmental space where safety, comfort, and compassion are paramount, allowing clients to explore their feelings and navigate their struggles effectively.

I have worked with individuals throughout many different life stages and events in an attempt to improve their quality of life. It is my goal to meet clients where they are currently at in the therapeutic process and work with them to help meet their goals. I have experience working with all ages to include children/adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults. I utilize a trauma informed, strengths based perspective with my clients to assist with an array of challenges and strive to identify an effective and appropriate evidence based clinical intervention with clients.

My goal is to help you create a family where both parents and children can grow to meet their full potential, becoming the persons they were meant to be. I do this through individual therapy with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as family therapy and parenting education and coaching. I use a whole family approach when possible, with a warm, non-threatening style.

Accepting New Clients - I am a strengths-based therapist providing multiple treatment methods for my clients treating them with respect, acceptance, and understanding. I attended and graduated from Liberty University where I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I concentrated in Christian Studies while at ECU as well as Liberty. I have worked with clients of different ages, races, religions, and genders. I have also worked with clients who have a variety of diagnoses, which includes but is not limited to anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, adjustment disorders, trauma etc.

In my professional journey, I've dedicated myself to the field of mental health, recognizing its profound impact on individuals' overall well-being. I've had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including schools, a psychiatric hospital, and private practice. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the nuanced challenges people face and underscored the importance of tailored approaches to support their unique needs.

I am accepting NEW clients including teens and adults in person and telehealth. My specialties are getting to the root of depression, anxiety, stress, emotional regulation, and interpersonal relationship struggles. I help people through things such as grief, psychosis and suicidal ideation. I meet you where you are in life and help you identify the barriers preventing you from experiencing wellbeing. I work with each client in resolving various issues using a specialized combination of evidence-based clinical interventions tailored to provide appropriate care for a wide range of emotional, psychiatric, and/or behavior concerns.

My goal is to offer you compassion, acceptance and unconditional positive regard. I strive to create an environment that is safe and non-judgmental in order to build a strong therapeutic alliance. I believe this is key for successful therapy. I use a blend of interventions to help you identify your personal strengths, gain insight and awareness of thoughts and emotions, and heal from previous life experiences. From my experiences as a veteran, wife, daughter, mother, and a licensed marriage & family therapist, I have a great appreciation for the healing that can occur when life's difficulties are confronted and understood in the context of relationships. These supports may come in the form of family members, friends, significant others, coworkers, or another professional in your life.

I have worked as a therapist for 23 years in various settings and have been licensed since 2006. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor/Supervisor, I have provided family, couple and individual counseling for adults. I am EMDR trained. I address parenting skills, marital issues, trauma, mood disorders, behavior disorders, thought disorders, career concerns, and spiritual concerns. As a professional Christian counselor, I believe that the Lord has the power to heal marriages, families, and individuals using Jesus as our example of how to live life and find perfect peace.

Accepting New Clients. My passion is working with people who are teetering in crisis mode and want to establish peace in their life. Sometimes the crisis can be a trauma or it might be a marital or family conflict. I enjoy helping people who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and addiction/recovery. I am comfortable working with military families, and I appreciate cultural differences. I want to help you identify your struggle, explore all potential solutions, and develop goals to overcome the obstacles.

I am a marriage & family therapist and a registered play therapist. I have a wide range of experience in working with children, adolescents, couples, individuals, and families. My areas of specialization working with issues related to divorce, child custody, parenting, co-parenting, infidelity, family loss/grief, military family issues, school or work related problems, adoption, infertility, emotion regulation, trust and abandonment issues.
