Hearts Matter Counseling Center was born out of a passion to help people mend their wounded hearts. Jolie A. Cogan, LMHC, and Sandra B. Stanford, LMHC have a strong desire to bring tools for healing and healthier living to this community. They know that if you heal a heart, you heal a home. Your heart matters to them and they would love to meet with you.

I humbly bring 21 years of expertise ranging from child protective services work, to various case management experiences, to working in several clinical venues including residential treatment and outpatient practices. Graduating from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work in 2005, my area of passion has been serving children/adolescents and their families within the clinical arena, but have an all-encompassing love for anyone who comes into my care who is wanting to engage in positive change and willing to do the work toward that end. I am committed to your success and overall improvement in quality of life.

Specializing in EMDR therapy, I help individuals overcome trauma and stress. By using audio/visual stimulation and talk therapy, we address triggers and develop strategies for a more integrated life and healthier future. Together, in a safe and gentle process and at your pace, we will work to support you to reclaim a sense of stability and control.

The needs I hope to fulfill with a client are assisting them in finding who they are and how to work through their situations - whether they be for good or bad. If they need help in reaching their goals for the better, then I will walk their journey with them as they find their path.

I use a variety of therapies, including a person centered approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also offer Equine and Canine Assisted therapy. I offer tele-therapy and remote video counseling.
