I'm here to lead clients on a journey of healing and help. I hold your heart and your hands through managing challenges and growing past the pain. I specialized in trauma, working in forensic settings, substance abuse settings, and with children, adolescents, adults, and families. It is my absolute pleasure to work with you and help you!

Dr. Stella Verna has a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Ph.D. in Professional Psychology, is licensed by the Department of Health – Mental Health-and Nationally Certified Psychologist, conducting counseling and psychotherapy in both English and Spanish. Dr. Verna is experienced in individual counseling, couples and marriage counseling, family counseling, and group psychotherapy. Some of the more common problems Dr. Verna treats includes relationship/couples problems, affairs, financial tensions, depression, anxiety, history of traumatic experiences/child abuse, feelings of unreality, psychosomatic (mind/body) disorders, gender identity disorders, gay and lesbian issues, domestic violence,ADD, ADHD.

As human beings we all face various challenges in life. Sometimes we feel stuck, unmotivated, or maybe anxious in various situations. Not knowing how to navigate trials and tribulations in different chapters of our life can be daunting. That’s where I come in. My approach with the individuals I see is to create a non-judgmental, therapeutic environment where each person feels appreciated and understood. Vulnerability at its core can be intimidating for some, which is why I value creating a safe space to share your thoughts, allowing me to develop a deeper understanding of who you are.

I enjoy working with clients across the life span (birth- adulthood) specializing in complex cases. Complex could be defined as any of these: treatment failures, multiple or co-occurring diagnosis, intellectual disabilities or personality disorders. I believe we deserve to live with joy. I am passionate about helping those who feel that they are constantly functioning from a place of fear, suffering and stress. I prefer to utilizes a variety of modalities because I believe that one size does not fit all. Some of my favorite modalities are DBT, family systems therapy, expressive arts, ERP for OCD, EMDR & Prolonged Exposure for PTSD.

Accepting new clients! For the past 16 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in a variety of capacities. I am a board-certified Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I love working with children and specialize in play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy. However, multiple modalities are interwoven in my work to meet my client's needs.

However, sometimes life gets in the way and we're unsure of our next step. It's important to know that it's OK to ask for help.

I have a passion for supporting individuals to encourage change, healing, and empowerment. I have had the wonderful opportunity to practice as a mental health therapist as well as share my expertise to deliver educational services in Palm Beach County for the last 5 years. My approach to therapy is client-centered, solution-focused, humanistic, and strengths-based. I have training in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, domestic violence, Promoting Maternal Mental Health During Pregnancy, Cultural Bias, racial equity, child abuse and neglect, Motivational Interviewing, Brazelton Touchpoints, and Infant Mental Health, EMDR, MBSR, & DBT.

Our founder, an ordained minister and equestrian, noticed how horses were helping people heal and developed Integrative Equine Therapy. In a non-clinical environment, a horse and IET Therapist create a safe space. We guide, encourage and support you in removing blocks, building new neural pathways from the trauma center to the conscious part of your brain, making it possible to respond rather than react to triggers. We call this "shifting perspective." With IET, you can find clarity of purpose, meaning and joy. Brown University's independent data on our therapeutic approach shows the success of IET. We work with all ages.

With 20+ years of hands-on experience, I also mentor individuals through major life transitions such as relationships, career changes, and education determinations. My approach to therapy is rooted in strength-based principles, and I incorporate techniques such as Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness Training, and Somatic Experiencing.
