As a Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Registered Art Therapist, I work with clients at all ages and stages of life. I take a client-centered approach and follow the needs of each individual depending on whether they prefer talk therapy, art therapy or a combination. Majority of my experience includes working with clients that struggle with anxiety, depression, attachment issues, family conflict, trauma and abuse/neglect. I aim to create a safe space to build trust and empower self growth in my clients. Therapy has been healing in my own life and I hope to provide support for others struggling with their mental health.

I have a long history of working with children and families. I treat children of all ages and adults. I address attachment issues, academics, oppositional defiance, grief, loss and trauma. This is often complicated and usually requires the involvement of the whole family. I love working with children and find that there are always solutions and ways to accommodate the most difficult situations. I use a variety of modalities including play therapy which includes sand tray, art and a variety of other ways for self expression for children .

My clients bring in a range of issues and have varying ideas of what they would like to change about themselves and/or their lives -- but they all have one thing in common, and that is motivation for change. Therapy can, and should, be a place for self-reflection and self-improvement and I am here to support that process. While a lot of my experience has been with children/adolescents and mood disorders, I approach every client with an open mind and heart, and strive to always create a safe and inviting space.

I would say that I am eclectic and use both traditional and alternative forms of therapy such as Art Therapy and EMDR. I believe in a good working relationship in order to build trust so that the client is comfortable. The client is accepted for who they are and where they are. I believe in creating a safe and confidential environment so that the person can move at their own pace towards their therapy goals. Identifying issues and possible solutions is very important. Waitlist for new clients
In the past I have worked with substance abuse and adult and child victims of domestic violence.
I care deeply about the relationship I establish with the people who come to see me in therapy. I work hard to provide clients with a safe and non-judgmental environment, in which they can feel comfortable being themselves. I know life can be difficult, but I truly believe that we all have the ability to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Knowing where to begin can be challenging , and that is what I am here for. I always work to meet clients where they are, and create a treatment plan based on their specific needs.

I use gentle, empowering approaches such as expressive arts, clinical hypnosis, mindfulness, "parts" therapy, inner child work, dreamwork, and body-oriented psychotherapy to support clients in uncovering their inner wisdom and stepping into their true Selves.
My ideal client is eager to utilize their creative imagination for healing and wellness. I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety and parenting challenges while navigating their own old wounds. Often, these clients are also neurodivergent, highly sensitive, and struggling with chronic pain, IBS, substance use, obsessive thoughts, or compulsive/habitual behavior. My younger clients are typically neurodivergent and struggling with fitting into a world not created for them. These children are often expressing their struggles as anger, anxiety, and sadness. I help clients learn to trust and communicate their needs.

Child Therapists
Child psychologists in New Mexico provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in New Mexico build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
