Middle School Transition Skills Group

This group is open to students entering 6th grade in fall 2023, students transitioning to 6th-8th grade from another school, or students entering public/charter school setting in 6th-8th grade who were previous homeschooled or attending online school. Middle school can bring a significant number of transitions and this group will help support students as we explore those changes and concerns. We will discuss emotion impact, worries, peer pressure, social changes, academic changes & stressors, & environmental adjustments. We will learn coping skills for anxiety & stress management, communication & self-advocacy skills, & essential executive functioning skills to help students be successful in this transition.

Elementary-aged Social & Coping Skills Group

This group will be offered in 2 groups: grades K-2nd and 3rd-5th. This group will offer support and skill development to children who may benefit from additional support to learn healthy coping skills for management of anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulty with emotional regulation. This group will also assist children in learning health communication skills necessary for peer interactions and positive problem-solving as well as self-advocacy skills needed for asking for help and establishing and understanding health boundaries. Activities will include mindfulness exercises, movement/ play, art/creative expression, and team building activities.

Parenting Skills & Support

Parenting groups are offered in 4 week sessions and are available for parents/caregivers with children in the following child age ranges: Pregnancy/ preparing for parenthood, Birth-age 2, 2-4yrs, 5-7yrs, 8-11yrs, and 12-14yrs. These group offer parenting education, peer support, and skill development necessary to improve understanding and confidence of parenting at specific stages. We will explore the stressors related to parenting at this stage, discuss appropriate developmental expectation, parent strategies, and activities to promote healthy development and positive parenting attachment.
