As a licensed clinical professional counselor, my focus is working with women and children both individually and together in a therapeutic environment. I have experience working in women's health both medically and physically through personal training and nutritional well being. We are navigating a challenging time in our world so I invite people in to explore the hard conversations in relationship to our well being both spiritually and emotionally. I also have a background in working children who have experienced trauma using non-directive play therapy to increase their ability to self-regulate and identify emotions.
When working with children, I utilize a non-directive play therapy approach. Through evidence based research, this treatment allows the child's natural ability to guide their therapy rather than the therapist. The belief is that children communicate through their behavior which includes play.
Therapy begins with relationship. I believe we heal through healthy connections as well as learning how to safely communicate with one another. Most of us have experienced some form of trauma in our life and can often times be unaware of how it may impact us day to day. I help to increase self-awareness by also learning how to regulate together.
