Are you tired of being "fine"? For many, "fine" can mean profound anxiety and unhappiness. Admitting you are not happy is an incredibly difficult act in an American culture that values strength and toughness (this can be especially true for men). Powering through emotional pain can even be seen as a virtue by some. And when the source of the unhappiness is tied to a career or long-term relationship, pride and ego can have an outsized effect on the choices we make. All these things bedeviled me as I contemplated a midlife career change. When I became open to the idea of being more than just “fine,” my perspective began to change.
I took a untraditional path to the field of counseling. After returning to Austin in 2017, I started my own law practice. During this work, I enjoyed talking with my clients about the issues in their lives more than the legal work. Combined with my own experiences in the mental health world, I decided to switch fields and I haven't looked back.
I enjoy working with individuals, families, and couples, striving to create a space where the exploration of clients’ unique life stories can flourish. I believe that the stories we tell ourselves about our lives can have a profound impact on our beliefs and actions. Let's explore these stories together.
