My orientation is towards helping clients experience at the deepest level possible those beliefs and emotional stances which color every moment of their lives, even if unconsciously, and which give rise to the variety of circumstances and interactions of daily life. "Problems" are viewed in the context of the whole life, and seen as signs that a once-creative solution is now blocking the full expression of vitality, meaning, and one's most fundamental nature. Change is possible only on the foundation of a precise and honest experience of oneself marked by warmth and acceptance.
With the view that factors from the past are important only to the degree that they are present in the immediate moment, I work by helping guide clients' awareness to indicators of the past which are present as physical sensations, muscular contractions, and images that arise spontaneously.
I integrate several strands of training and experience in my practice. The influences include my 35 years as a certified rolf practitioner, 40 years as a practitioner of mindfulness meditation, and training in psychosynthesis, hakomi, cognitive behavior therapy, gestalt therapy, karate, and aikido.
