We all feel stuck at times, but I truly believe that by telling our story to an engaged and compassionate listener, we can begin to make a whole lot more sense of things, eventually feeling empowered to make important decisions and lasting changes in our lives. As a therapist, I see my role as that of a "fellow traveler," helping you find your way through your current struggles and towards a more authentic, deeper place of connection with yourself and those around you.

Though I love working with many different types of clients and issues, I specialize in working with artists/creatives, introverts, highly sensitive people (HSPs), and highly-gifted adults. I also have extensive training & experience in helping couples create meaningful and lasting change in their relationships together.

Together, we will explore past and present issues to gain a better understanding of your current dilemmas, while also working to identify and support your current strengths. It's important to tell our stories, to feel seen, heard, and understood. I believe that words matter, and I would love to hear yours.

Chad Perman's Groups

Writing to Heal (Therapeutic Writing Group)

Next group starts in Fall 2019! Learn how to use expressive writing as a form of therapy, as well as a tool to help you better understand yourself, your experiences, and your relationships. Research has shown this type of writing offers a whole host of benefits: improved mood & well-being, reduced stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms, increased resilience, better sleep--it can even reduce blood pressure & increase immune system functioning! You don't need to have any previous writing experience to benefit from this group. An open mind, a pen, and a piece of paper are all you'll need.

Cinema Therapy

Movies can be incredible catalysts for growth, healing, and change. Cinema therapy is an expressive, sensory-based therapy that uses film as a therapeutic tool to help us better understand ourselves, our emotions, and our world. In this group, we meet weekly to discuss a specific film, exploring characters, images, and scenes, and reflecting on various thoughts and emotions each film evokes. Through supportive discussion & interaction with group members, you'll have the opportunity to increase your own empathy, mindfulness, and emotional awareness, discover new ways of thinking, and learn how to use movies as a tool for self-growth.
